So, that’s it. We’ve moved. Although we do have to go back to Hampshire for 5 days tomorrow to tie up some odds and ends, essentially, we’ve done it.
What now?
Well, here’s the thing… we’re not exactly sure. We can afford to take a bit of a break for a while but not indefinitely and nor would we want to.. even if the coffers did allow. Holiday vibes are all well and good but without some sort of purpose I think we’d both bore very quickly.
Mr. M will find projects down here with his work and he’s able to continue a few of the more ‘online’ projects that he started in Hampshire. I, on the other hand, am about to leave
my job in Hampshire and have nothing to carry on. My skills are few and varied. I can type; I’m reasonably computer literate; can run a small business; can fly a plane; keep pigs; make jam and have moderate cooking skills… an eclectic mix of talents you could say. Jack of all, master of none. But I am happy to give anything a go.
I have, historically, reinvented my ‘career’ every few years and I feel the need to do that again. I love interior design and thought that maybe something I could venture into. I’d have to do a course, of course. It’s not necessarily something I have a natural flair for, but to be fair, neither has anything else I’ve ever done. I live firm by the motto ‘how hard can it be?’ and in life, I’ve found it is usually quite hard, but never impossible. A bit of application and a health serving of bullshit bravado usually does the trick. Interior design, however, insinuates a certain amount of creativity which I’m not sure I have or is something that can be learned but as with most things, there is only one way to find out.
The only other fly in the ointment is whether there is a demand for a mediocre interior designer on the Roseland Peninsula or even further afield in the whole of Cornwall – I’m willing to give it a bash anyway and happy to fall back on waitressing or anything else that may be around.
The design course is an online course at KLC which I can’t start until we move into our gopping bungalow in October as we have no internet here at the rental property. This leaves the Summer to discover more of Cornwall and work out exactly how we are going to transform the hideous bungalow into a gorgeous home.. my first project!
So that’s it.. the plan is that there is no plan, really. For a lot of it we are waiting to see what, if anything, unfolds. People say 'if you are open to them, the doors of opportunity become visible.' They also say, 'only by being available to opportunities are they able to make themselves known..' and those sayings go a little way to make ourselves feel better. But there really is no other way to put it..
We’re winging it.
