What are we doing??

If you're unsure about who I am and why the hell I'm writing a blog, please feel free to head the About page on here to find out. But if you can't be arsed (and I don't blame you if you can't) , then here's a little bit of background info.

My husband and I live in a pretty village called St Mary Bourne in Hampshire. We are in our mid fifties, have lived here for eight years. We have made some amazing friends who live life joyously and know how to look after each other and have fun.

We have immersed ourselves in village life over the years with my job running the community shop and café and my husband getting involved with the Parish Council. The village is hugely community minded and that has suited us well.

Our house is very pretty and we have a lovely stream that runs through the garden which my husband has built a deck over and where it's dreamy to have a fire on from the hanging fire

pit he built beneath the willow.

We holiday at least twice a year, once in January, where we like to go somewhere hot and then again later in the year in the UK, so we can take our lovely Ridgeback, Mary, with us.

I don't say all of this to be smug. It all sounds a little wanky when you say it out loud. But there is reasoning why I'm telling you of our middle England idyll.

I'm telling you because we are about to give it all up. We, for some reason, have decided that we want to move from this life and make another.... from scratch. So, we have sold our beautiful house; I'm in the process of leaving my lovely, comfortable job and we're selling, donating and throwing out as much as we can of our stuff (Stacey Solomon has a lot to answer for), and heading to a place, far away, where we know no one and have brought possibly the ugliest bungalow on the planet.

Truthfully, I go through phases of being elated to suddenly wondering what the hell we are doing and feeling grief creep in, of the life we are leaving.

This blog is my diary of the next few months, maybe years, in which I will be brutally truthful and honest of how we are feeling, detailing our adventures and perils, our highs and lows, and whether we actually feel we've done the right thing. Right now, it's 50/50.
